PURSE JUNKY

On Thursday afternoons I work at an orthodontics office, so Jack gets to spend a few hours with either one of his Grandma's or my friend Errin. So... I was just getting things ready to go, while Jack was sleeping. I got to my purse/diaper bag and I decided it would be best to clean it out before I drop it off with my mother-in-law. So it got me thinking about the purse tag that has been going around, and I want to say either you all lie or I am the least organized person I know. Not only did I have everything that you guys all had but I too had nearly 20 Walmart receipts, at least 3 pairs of socks ( some Jack's, some mine), Oh course treats: fruit snacks, puffs, crackers, spippy cup....... then not only did I have clean diapers but I also had dirt ones ( don't worry they weren't poopy ones) I had over 10 hair elastics, a whole hand full of bobby pins, gum and gum wrappers, wrappers from millions of other things, and the list could go on and on. Oh one other thing I have a very puky boy, so I had 5 burp rags! So there you have it, my purse has everything you would ever want.
So I have a funny story that Shawn brings up anytime some one mentions a purse. We were at a check out stand at a store and Shawn wanted to order pizza for dinner and he said I wish I had a phone book to get the number to the pizza place so that it would be ready when we got there. So he asked the lady at the check stand if she had a phone book. In the mean time I was rummaging through my purse and just happened to notice that I had a FULL SIZE phone book in my purse, not thinking it would be odd at all I said, " here you go I had one in my purse." Shawn stood there in amazement and the check stand lady just started to laugh.
But I can top that story. The past few days I kept saying to Shawn that the coat closet door wouldn't shut. I kept thinking that our house must be settling or something. So last night Shawn went to adjust it and he looked at the hinges and noticed they were pulling away from the door frame. So he asked me if I hung anything on that door regularly and I said my purse. He then went on to tell me that it was so heavy that it was pulling the hinges off of the frame. So there you have it, I'm a Purse Junky, what can I say.

Bubbles

What a cheep way to have fun .93 cents. Jack had so much fun. I always feel like I need to spend a lot of money on toys, but in the end Jack always likes the cheep stuff. Yeah For Bubbles!!!

Jacks First Haircut

My Mom "Grammy Cash" cut Jack's hair. It took Shawn and Grandma to hold him down, but now he is a very handsome boy. Thanks Grammy for the Haircut!

Martian Child

So last weekend my sister and her family were in town and my Dad rented this movie called Martian Child. I hadn't heard of it but my Dad said it sounded good, and it was really good. It also kind of hit a tender spot for me
(I'll explain in a minute) So the movie was about a man who had lost his wife and had the opportunity to adopt a child with "problems". When David (John Cusack) meets Dennis (Bobby Coleman) He finds out that Dennis thinks he is from Mars. The story goes on to find out that this boy wasn't crazy or even handicapped. He had just never had anyone stable or loving in his life. So Davids only way out of "his world" was to imagine his own. I'm not very good at telling the story, but I recommended everyone of you to rent the movie. I consider it one of my very favorites.
So I think the reason that I enjoyed the movie so much or the reason it has really stuck with me is because over the past year or so we have had these neighbors. From the outer shell they look pretty rough.
Just to give you a little back ground on them... The mom (Stacy) was released from prison in the last 2 years or so. In the time that she was in prison she met Doc. Doc ( now ex-husband) was tattooed from head to toe and Stacy alone could take me and Shawn out in seconds. Stacy has two girls Sierra and Morgan. Sierra is 13 she is a little slow, but I think that is only because of the life that she has lived through, and Morgan is 9 she is a pretty happy go luck girl that hides a lot inside.
They at one point all lived in the house. But as you can see Doc ( the husband left about 4 months ago) Morgan's Dad did something illegal and left the country so when Doc and Stacy got married she always called him Dad. Sierra has a Dad but he lives in Idaho and they don't have much contact. Anyway, throughout the time of them living there I have complained a lot. Ask Shawn and my parents. After Doc left Stacy started renting out he girls bedrooms out to make enough money to pay the rent. ( I'm not sure but I would guess that she was selling drugs also.) Sierra would come over often, when I say often I mean at least 4 times a day. She never had much to say she just wanted to know what was going on at our house. Shawn tries to be home at 5:00 and we normally have dinner at about 5:30 or 6:00. With out a doubt the girls would knock on the door to see what we were having for dinner. One day Morgan came over so excited because her mom said that she was going to make spaghetti tonight for dinner. You should have seen the smile on her face. (that only happened once) Often times the girls would knock on the door at 9:00 and I would ask them where there mom was and they would say she said about 2 hours ago she was going to get us dinner and we haven't heard from here. One night the girls came knocking on the door they both looked really scared. They said that a cop had just come to there house asked for there mom, they both were crying and asked if they could come stay at our house until their mom got home. I think that was one of the only nights I feed them dinner. (I am such a jerk) They were both so concerned about their mom. Morgan even got sick to her stomach. Stacy's friend came over about 9:00 and got the girls. I never heard what happen to Stacy that night.
Well of course time went by and things got worse and worse. We would wake up in the middle of the night to some knock down drag out fights and we kept wanting to call the cops but we knew how much these girls loved there mom. And we didn't know where they would go if she lost custody of them. Last Wednesday, just as I got Jack to sleep there was a knock at the door and then quickly another knock and another and another, finally I got to the door and Sierra was standing there with big crocodile tears in her eyes. She told me that She was leaving and that I probably would see her again. Suddenly all the time I complained about her knock at my door came flooding back to me and tears stared to swell in my eyes. She said she just want to come at tell me goodbye and tell me thanks for being so nice to her. I felt so horrible, I hadn't been nice to her at all, I had actually been pretty rude. But to Sierra I was here best friend, I dare say her only friend. She stuck around for awhile and told me that last week she had locked herself out of her house and she came and knocked at my door but I didn't answer, so she went down to the club house to get a key and one of the neighbor ladies said that she could come to her house until her mom got home. I guess Stacy didn't come home until really late and so the neighbor called social services and turned Stacy in. The next day at school the cops came and asked the girls some questions. Sierra then said that her mom said it was all her fault that they were being taken away and evicted from there home. I felt so horrible for this sweet girl who didn't ask to be in this situation. All I could do was say I was going to miss her and that her aunt would take good care of her and that everything would be alright. I gave here my phone # and I haven't heard from her since. Like Dennis in the movie I hope that one day Sierra finds someone who loves her and will always love her.
The point I wanted to make to this really long story is not that Stacy was a bad mom or that I was a nice neighbor. I actually disagree with both of those statements. But I just want to say thank you to my parents for letting me have a good life and for making my life so easy. And for a husband that cares for me more than himself. I don't think a day in my life has gone by that someone hasn't told me that they loved me or shown me that they loved me. I am so blessed. The sad thing is that Sierra loves her mom just as much or more than I do. She can see right past all of her flaws and she loves her and wants to be with her. I'm sure that I didn't change Sierra's life but she did change mine. I know that I will never let a day go by that I don't hold Jack in my arms and tell him that I love him.
I saw Stacy the day after the girls were taken away and I know she was struggling and I know that she misses her girls. Stacy wants to be good and she wants to have a family life but she just can't quit make it. I'm not sure that Sierra and her family will ever be a functional family but I hope that I will learn from there story and value my wonderful family life.

Time Flies

Jack turned nine months yesterday. I can't believe how fast time flies. He is so much fun. He is crawling everywhere. He has bruises all over because he climbs up on everything. Jack loves to smile so big at everyone he sees. He is the best, I can't imagine what my life was like before he was in my world. Jack's new thing is he says Mama, but I'm not sure if it mean mom or milk, but he has said his first word, yeah. Now when he wakes up the first thing he says is mama. I love it.

THE FUN WEEKEND

Mom, Dad, Jack and Scout took a work road trip to SLC. It was Shawn's Birthday on Sunday so we decided to make a weekend of it. We had fun!!!
Boston and Jack are still too far apart in age to really have fun playing together but they were both really interested in this toy. Carly and I are hoping one day they will grow up to be best buddies. On Friday morning when we were up there we got to babysit Boston while Carly went to work. Carly is a traffic reporter and has to be to work at 4:30, crazy I know. The amazing thing about it is that she still has the energy to run after Boston all day, be pregnant ( 13 week yeah!), keep her house clean, and make dinner every night and most of all hardly complain about it. I complain if Jack wakes up before 7:00. She is one amazing, hard working women.
Carly, Shawn and I took Jack and Boston to Chucky Cheese, Jack was super tired so he just hung out. He liked to watch Dad drive the race car game and he liked when the big Chuchy Cheese characters sang songs. Boston wanted to try ever single game and didn't give his mom a break for one second. After about an hour or so both boys were really ready to go.
On another note who thought of the name Chucky Cheese any way??? What a stupid name! Carly said that most people think it's a pretty white trash place to take your kids, but we use to go there all the time when we were kids, so we didn't want our kids to miss out on the fun. I do have to admit most people that were there were white trash. For Shawn's 26th Birthday on Sat I took him to a Jazz game. We found a scalper that sold us tickets for half price and they were pretty good seats. It was a really good game, and they won, yeah! Shawn and I are really big Jazz fans. It was fun to have one night just the two of us (My sister watched Jack.)
After the game we were walking back to our car and we saw all of these people standing around so we went to see what was going on. They were looking down at the players parking lot. So we stuck around for awhile and watched the players get in there super nice cars. Some stopped for autographs and photos but stupid me I forgot the camera. Shawn will have to write a post about all of the sweet cars. He knew ever name to every car, as for me I really did care other than Korver drove a really sexy Rang Rover :)
Shawn made sure that we brought Jack back a prize from the Jazz game.
On Monday when we were home we celebrated Shawn's Birthday with our families. Everyone spoiled him, like always. We had dinner at our house and then Shawn decided that instead of a cake he wanted an ice cream bar. So we had tons and tons of ice cream. The whole week was a ton of fun.

Happy Valentines Day

I am so lucky to have the BEST VALENTINES ever. Shawn is such a great husband, friend and Dad. He always makes life so fun. He always puts me first no matter what and my favorite thing about him is he can always make me laugh. We have had so much in common since the day we met. I guess you could say we are like two peas in a pod.
And for my little Jack Man he is the best. I love every day I get with him. He is the light of my life. I love to see his teethy grin and know that I mean the world to him.
This morning Jack and Shawn gave me this card. It is so cute. I love MY BOYS. Happy Valentines Day everyone.

Scout

I feel so bad that I haven't even mentioned that we have a dog. Scout use to be the center of our world. I would come home everyday during lunch and take Scout for a walk (I know people at work and in our neighborhood thought I was crazy). Now he is just Jack's sidekick. Actually they have become best buddies the last little while. It's hard to keep Jack away from Scout. Jack is always pulling on his paws and steeling his toys (gross I know) but Scout always wins in the end. Jack has never been afraid of Scout and Scout has never hurt Jack. Jack loves when Shawn holds him and has Scout chase after them, Jack giggles and giggles. Scout is still very spoiled though. Me and Jack take Scout out every morning and afternoon on a walk.
Scout has so much personality he is always the favorite. I have kids all the time knock at my door and ask if Scout can play. He is a very loved Dog. He also has a lot of talents. He can sit, stand, shake, high five and (Shawn's very favorite) poop right in the middle of a bush, (Shawn figures if you can't see it then you don't have to clean it up). Scout keeps me going I have to vacuum the house daily and share everything I eat with him. He is definitely a handful, but he is like a second child to us.
Jack has got to where he sleeps through the night now, but I still wake up to Scout rolling out from under our bed and shaking (he does this really annoying shake when he wakes up) at least two times a night. I also get woken up by Shawn's annoying snoring at least a few times a night. Can't anyone get any sleep around here!!!!
Life is still great around here though. Shawn just got a BIG cabinet job up at Ledges (a new area in St. George with really big homes). We have been so lucky that Shawn still has work. The building industry has really hit rock bottom here, so we are super lucky that he still has work. I have to keep telling myself that when he calls and says he is going to be late or when he leaves at 5:00am in the morning. He is such a hard worker and is so talented.
This past week Jack mastered crawling, here is a sweet picture of Jack and Scout crawling together. The second I take Jack's diaper off he rolls over and he is out of there. I nearly have to sit on him to get a diaper back on. He loves to crawl over to his toy basket and pull it over and see what toys are inside.
I am so lucky I get to be home with Jack and of course Scout all day, they are such a blast. The smallest things make me so happy.

LOST SEASON 4

We Love Lost! The seasons just get better and better, unlike 24. The only problem is we are caught up now and we have to wait a whole week to see what happens next. We were talking about what character we would most be like, if we were on the island. So for those of you that know what we are talking about feel free to comment on your character, as for the two of us...

Shawn=
Locke (most of the time), always wanting to solve problems on his own, and a little mysterious, but a little like Jack, only when no one else wants to be the leader. And maybe once a week like Hurley.
Hayley=
Pre-marriage: Kate, because I was a lot more adventurous, and I was always torn between two guys. hahaha
Post-Marriage: (especially now with Jack) Claire, just follow the crowd, and take care of the baby.
